Parution d’un essai dans l’ouvrage Re-reading the Manual of Travelling Exhibitions (Spector Books / HfG Karlsruhe) – English below 

Cette réédition propose une lecture contextualisée du manuel de référence publié par l’UNESCO et le Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) en 1953. Initialement destiné aux institutions muséales, le Manuel des Expositions Itinérantes comprend de nombreuses études de cas permettant de faciliter la mise en place de projets curatoriaux, notamment d’un point de vue de la scénographie. Il est ici réimprimé dans une version commentée, laquelle est augmentée d’essais rédigés par une vingtaine d’experts contemporains, parmi lesquels Martin Beck, Clémentine Deliss ou encore Moritz Küng.

Pour cette réédition, j’ai co-rédigé (avec Aaron Werbick) un essai sur l’architecte polonais Stanisław Zamecznik (1909-1971). À partir du design présenté dans le manuel d’origine, notre texte revient sur les innovations repérables dans les pratiques de la scénographie dans la Pologne communiste des années 1940-50.

Released this month, Re-reading the Manual of Travelling Exhibitions is a contextualized reprint of the reference manual published by UNESCO and MoMA in 1953. Initially aimed at museums and other public institutions, the original handbook formulates a “grammar” of how to exhibit, ranging from organizational questions to reflections on scenography. This reprint of the manual is extensively annotated and joined by many essays written by contemporary experts, among them Martin Beck, Clémentine Deliss and Moritz Küng.

For this new edition, I co-wrote (with Aaron Werbick) a text on the polish architect Stanisław Zamecznik (1909-1971). Using the exhibition design presented in the manual, our essay deals with the advent of an innovative scenography practice in communist Poland in the 1940s and 1950s.
